The tourism industry is full of events. Our tourism industry partners included large corporations to small mom and pop establishments. I helped promote their events through digital and print channels.

Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corp. (WRTMC) partnered with local businesses in the tourism industry to help them market their hotel, event, restaurant, or attraction. As a Marketing Coordinator, I helped WRTMC plan and market it’s events, as well as assisting our partners in promoting their events through our channels.

Promoting Events on Social Media

I wrote and developed social media posts across all of Explore Waterloo Region’s branded channels to help promote partner events.

Each industry partner could post up to 12 posts on our channels for the year. I wrote most of the post content, coordinated the review and approval process, developed or sourced assets, and posted each in accordance with our Editorial Calendar and posting guidelines.

Promoting an Events Calendar

I maintained the Explore Waterloo Region events calendar and promoted upcoming events in the region on social media and in our monthly newsletter. I designed the below graphic for a weekly roundup of events that were happening each week. I also helped our partners navigate and add their events to the calendar.

Waterloo Regional Travel Guide & Events Guide

I helped coordinate assets from our partners to create an annual travel guide and 2 annual festival & events guides. I collected information from our partners, tracked incoming and outstanding assets, as well as helped write or design listings and ads for partners.

I also assisted in coordinating the review and approval process. This process involved sending final proofs to tourism partners for their final sign off on the content and copy of their listing.
